AMMPES Executive Committee
As a premier association for mining engineering students at JKUAT, AMMPES demands the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct. By holding membership or participating in any AMMPES-sanctioned event, you explicitly agree to adhere to the directives outlined in this document.
Academic Integrity & Absolute Honesty
The AMMPES Honesty Campaign
AMMPES actively campaigns for absolute honesty and transparency across all frontiers. An engineer's most valuable asset is their credibility. We champion a culture where integrity in the classroom translates directly to safety and reliability in the mining field.
-
Examinations & Assessments: AMMPES maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for academic malpractice. Members must not engage in cheating, unauthorized collusion, or the use of prohibited materials during university examinations or continuous assessment tests (CATs).
-
Classroom & Departmental Transparency: Members are expected to actively and truthfully participate in lectures, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork. The falsification of engineering data, assay results, or attendance records is a severe breach of professional engineering ethics.
-
University & Leadership Activities: When representing AMMPES in student governance, university-wide forums, or financial dealings, members and executives must operate with complete transparency, ensuring all actions can withstand public and institutional scrutiny.
-
Peer Accountability: True integrity requires collective effort. Members are encouraged to hold their peers accountable to these standards, fostering an environment where honesty is the default operational protocol.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Given the high-risk nature of the mining and mineral processing industry, safety is not optional; it is a primary directive.
- PPE Compliance: Strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements during all industrial visits, workshops, and laboratory sessions is mandatory.
- Hazard Reporting: Members must immediately report any unsafe practices or hazardous conditions observed during association activities to the organizing committee.
- Environmental Stewardship: Members shall advocate for and practice sustainable engineering solutions that minimize negative environmental impacts.
Respect & Inclusivity
- Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: AMMPES strictly prohibits harassment, bullying, or discrimination based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or academic standing.
- Constructive Dialogue: Disagreements during technical discussions or committee meetings must be handled with professional courtesy and mutual respect.
Industrial Engagement Protocol
When interacting with industry partners, alumni, or corporate sponsors, members act as ambassadors of JKUAT.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Members must honor RSVPs for industrial trips and arrive strictly on time. Failure to attend without prior notice damages the association's reputation.
- Corporate Communication: All formal communications with external partners must be routed through or approved by the Executive Committee.
Disciplinary & Grievance Procedures
Reporting Violations
Any member who witnesses a breach of this Code of Conduct is encouraged to report the incident to the Executive Committee. Reports can be submitted confidentially via our AMMPES Communications Portal.
Violations of this code will be reviewed by the Executive Committee and the Association Patron. Consequences may include formal warnings, suspension of membership privileges, revoking of event access, or, in severe cases involving academic/safety breaches, referral to the JKUAT University Disciplinary Committee.
